What this site is
Greenhousefield was started to fill a gap: most greenhouse construction information available online is written for temperate European or mild-climate American conditions. Canadian growers — dealing with design snow loads of 2–3 kPa on the Prairies, design low temperatures of –35°C in Alberta, and coastal humidity extremes in British Columbia — need information calibrated to those realities.
The site publishes detailed reference material on greenhouse frame systems, glazing materials, heating and ventilation design, and growing schedules. Content is drawn from Canadian construction practice, climate engineering data, and horticultural research. There are no affiliate links, no sponsored content, and no product endorsements. The goal is straightforward: accurate, practical information about growing under glass and poly in Canada.
Editorial approach
Each article goes through a research and review process before publication. Where material is drawn from external sources — building codes, climate engineering standards, horticultural research — those sources are cited. Numbers and specifications are checked against current Canadian standards: the National Building Code of Canada (NBC), the Canadian Building Digest series, and provincial agricultural extension publications where available.
Content is updated when specifications change, new research becomes available, or reader questions reveal gaps. The publication date and last-updated date appear on every article.
